Assen: Round Up 1 - New Teams

The New Permanent Teams: Yamaha Team Power Bike - Suzuki Bridgestone Bikers Profi - Projecteam Honda Endurance

Team Power Bike

Yamaha YZF-R1 mounted Team Power Bike finished the Assen 500 in 12th place, just one lap behind the much fancied Suzuki Nederland team and an improvement on their 20th place qualifying result. Power Bike's best lap was 1:30.305. Riders David Barrot and Patrick Vieira (no relation to former World Endurance Champion Alex Vieira) will be pleased with the four championship points that Team Power Bike take forward to the next round at Albacete.

Bridgestone Bikers Profi

It was a weekend of mixed fortunes for Bridgestone Bikers Profi and the two Suzuki GSX-R1000s that they entered for the Assen 500.

The permanently entered No.5 bike qualified in seventh place - in front of eventual runners up Bolliger - but failed to finish the race after Thomas Czyborra crashed and was unable to get the back to the pits due to a broken thumb. Czyborra and Tim Rothig's best lap was a 1:27.694.

The Bridgestone Bikers Profi second bike, running number 47 and ridden by Ralf Schwickerath and team manager Stefan Strauch, finished the race in 14th place after qualifying 21st. The No.47 team's best lap was 1:29.027.

Projecteam Honda Endurance

The only CBR1000RR mounted permanent outfit, Projecteam Honda struggled with their Fireblade's set-up throughout the weekend, with rider Roger Maher describing the bike's handling as "…like riding a garden-gate. It just doesn't want to turn."

They qualified in twenty eighth place, improving this in the race to finish in 27th place with a fastest lap of 1:30.558.
